"Doom legend (...) Scott 'Wino' Weinrich, is following his 2011 solo acoustic album Adrift with '13', a plugged-in full-band collection by new project Premonition 13. He co-founded the group with guitarist Jim “Sparky” Karow, whose wife was 'basically' (Wino says) the first manager of the Obsessed. Years later: 'We played guitars together one day and then we had this really good conversation about magnetism. We realized we had a common love of Mesoamerican stuff and ancient cultures.' They jammed without drums or vocals for close to two decades before writing songs for the album at Karow’s place in the California desert. On 13, which they recorded at RTX guitarist Brian McKinley’s Costa Mesa studio, they’re joined by Ostinato drummer Matthew Clark and ex-Meatjack bassist Brian Daniloski. Think dual guitar. Sabbath. Crimson. E-Bow. Tellingly, there’s a song called 'Peyote Road'. Etc. Here’s standout 'La Hechicera De La Jeringa'."
