Katatonia: "Dethroned And Uncrowned" to be released through Kscope, Peaceville's sister label, on September 10th

Tuesday September 10th, Katatonia will release “Dethroned and Uncrowned,” the Kscope debut which revisions the band's most successful album, “Dead End Kings” - Peaceville Records, 2012 - the band's longtime home, and sister label of Kscope.

Many of the ecstatic reviews the "Dead End Kings" received commented on the fact that the album marked another step in the band's journey towards a more progressive sound. "Dethroned and Uncrowned" allows them to explore these elements of the record further as they have reworked the album, creating new moods and textures while still staying truthful to the core of the songs.

Founding member Anders Nyström says “The synopsis is simple and album title won’t lie; the drums will be dethroned and the distorted rhythm guitars will be uncrowned! Instead, we’ll place the emphasis on the many layers of ambience, with the melodies staying central and the vocal harmonies representing the heart of the album.”



The album will be available on double LP, download and as 2 disc (CD & DVD-AV) digibook set, which also features a 5.1 surround mix of the album.

In support of the album, on September 23rd Katatonia begin its U.S. co-headline “Uncrowned & Vertikal Tour” with Cult of Luna, Intronaut, TesseracT

AUTOPSY: The masters of Sludge/Death Metal have returned with a gurgling new oldschool album

July 2nd marked the return of Autopsy, with the group’s sixth studio opus of horror and all-out madness, titled “The Headless Ritual,” released through Peaceville Records. Featuring Chris Reifert, Eric Cutler, Danny Coralles, and Joe Trevisano, “The Headless Ritual,” is a relentless monster of violent and brutal death metal mastery delivered in the unmistakable Autopsy style of chaotic riffing, insane solos and doom-filled interludes, all served with the band’s unhinged brand of vocal sickness.
The album was recorded and mixed April 2013 at Fantasy Studios in Oakland, Calif. with Adam Munoz, and features cover artwork by renowned artist Joe Petagno (Motörhead, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin).

As the band comments: “Expect nothing less than the monstrous brutality that Autopsy has been known to offer. Laurels will not be rested upon, trends will not be followed and mercy will not be shown. Among the early breed of US death metal pioneers, Autopsy formed in 1987 in the San Francisco Bay area and released four albums on Peaceville Records. Beginning with the classic debut “Severed Survival,” in 1989, they disbanded in 1995 with members going on to form Abscess. Autopsy triumphantly and officially returned from the grave after a 15 year hiatus with the 2010 EP, ‘The Tomb Within’, followed by the release of the band’s widely acclaimed fifth studio album, ‘Macabre Eternal’ in 2011.
