STONEBURNER - Life Drawing: Ein Brocken voller Hass, Schmerz und Verweiflung | A Boulder full of Hate, Grief and Despair

STONEBURNER
Life Drawing
Release: 18.04.2014
Neurot Recordings / Cargo Records

So sagt Gitarrist Eli Boland über die Arbeit mit Stoneburner: "It takes care of the thing inside us that would otherwise lead to serial murder. It cleanses my soul, eases my demons, and fills my heart in a way that keeps me high for a good long while.”

Neu dabei ist, dass Stoneburner ab sofort auf dem Neurosis-eigenen Label Neurot Recordings unter Vertrag stehen.

Den ersten Audiovisuellen Eindruck vermittelt dieses Teaser-Video zum Album.

-----------------------------------------------------------

STONEBURNER is one of the mainstays of the Portland, Oregon underground scene. Formed in early 2008, the bands’ familial roots reach back twenty years. Drummer Jesse McKinnon (ex-Buried Blood) and guitarist Jason Depew (Buried At Sea) have rocked together in many incarnations.

Their other bands had similarly earth-choked names (a stone burner is a subterranean weapon from the novel Dune), but it gets even more incestuous — Jesse went to school with bassist Damon (Heathen Shrine) Kelly’s step-mother. Years later, Jesse’s father would be Damon’s high school government teacher. Today most of the band shares a house and a musical outlet for their worldly frustrations.

To describe Stoneburner’s music one need only look to the list of bands with whom they’ve shared the stage: Yob, Sleep, EYEHATEGOD, Neurosis, Buzzov-en, Weedeater, Saint Vitus, Watain, Tragedy, Noothgrush, Graves At Sea, Lord Dying, Drop Dead, Whitehorse, Wind Hand, Bastard Noise and etc. It’s all about domination through amplification and soul-cleansing
catharsis. Stoneburner does not put on airs for anyone. The shows are not "rituals". According to guitarist Eli Boland, playing in Stoneburner “…takes care of the thing inside us that would otherwise lead to serial murder. It cleanses my soul, eases my demons, and fills my heart in a way that keeps me high for a good long while.”

Life Drawing is the band’s second album and third overall release following closely in the tradition of 2012’s Sickness Will Pass (Seventh Rule). All players are the same and Damon has now had ample time to gel with the band. Once again the tracking was done at Haywire under producer Fester “the fifth Burner’s” watchful ear and red-rimmed eyes. The same mastering engineer and cover artist were similarly reemployed.

What’s new is the Neurot logo on the spine and a handful of close friends on guest vocals including: Benjamin Caragol (Burials/Hang the Old Year), Joshua Greene (Bastard Feast, Ephemeros), and Krysta Martinez (Transient/Landmine Marathon). Two difficult years have passed. A basement provided the outlet. The band considers it therapy. The fruition is Life Drawing.

AMENRA - Mass V coming up on the 30th of November 2012

Neurot Recordings / Cargo (VÖ 30.11.2012)

Formed in the forsaken fields of West-Flanders Belgium, AMENRA has been conjuring unholy masses and paving their own headstrong way since 1999. Spreading their vision of a world that's out of touch with its past, present and future, they take their adepts through a world of unseen mystique. Their postmodern vision of music, existing of droning, repetitive chords alternated by gut-wrenching hauls can make an experienced listener renounce his definition of music, perhaps even his whole belief system. Amenra puts heart and soul into every note, word and image, and changes the course of people’s lives everywhere their path leads.

Recent history has shown an extremely confident and focused AMENRA. Besides touring on their own and with Neurosis, the band has been branching out and taking modest steps onto what has previously been virgin territory to them with an acoustic record, a book which vulnerably offers their heart and inspiration, and various art exhibitions. AMENRA forges their path while constantly gaining followers, members of the Church Of Ra, a sect, now thousands in numbers.

AMENRA's confounding and compelling sound that mixes surrealist melody and warped subtleties with churning rhythms, pummeling riffs and crushing dynamics stands on it's own. Having found a home with Neurot Recordings, ambitions and expectations for their upcoming release, Mass V, are high. And as you know, and if you’re fortunate enough, might have experienced, Amenra does NOT disappoint.

Tracklist:
1. Dearborn and Buried
2. Boden
3. A Mon Ame
4. Nowena
