REVELATION: "Salvation's Answer" to be reissued by Shadow Kingdom Records April 29th

Shadow Kingdom Records will reissue a Doom Metal classic called Salvation's Answer from Baltimore's REVELATION on April 29. Shadow Kingdom's Tim McGrogan gives us the rundown:

"Shadow Kingdom Records is thrilled to finally re-issue a groundbreaking 90's Doom Metal classic - REVELATION - Salvation's Answer! This was originally released on the classic Rise Above Records all the way back in 1991. It was one of their first releases when they started the label. Even today, there's nothing quite like this album, a lost gem stuck in the sands of time. Very few bands have been influenced by REVELATION's unique brand of Progressive Doom Metal. This is a special album that will only attract people who are really looking for sub-basement classics."

Release: 18 February 2014

Shadow Kingdom Records is proud to announce a special double-CD reissue of PALE DIVINE’s 2007 release Cemetery Earth on February 18.The fully remastered Cemetery Earth album is contained on disc one, while disc two contains Demo 2006, as well as live and rehearsal material. Shadow Kingdom owner Tim McGrogran had this to say about the reissue:

“The third Pale Divine album is probably right where the band envisioned their sound to be when they first started their career. They are the masters at blending 70s psychedelic blues jamming with sinister dark heavy traditional doom metal. There are not too many bands that are able to do what they can do which makes them the big fish in a small pond if you’re into Psych/Doom. The guitar leads sweep you away, but also gently bring you back to the heart of the song. The addition of John Gaffney (songwriter for Sinister Realm) on bass added different dimension to this album that helped them grow as a band.”

RUN AFTER TO: Obscure Italian Doom Metal band from the 80s unearthed

Shadow Kingdom Records has unearthed some completely obscure and virtually unknown 80's Italian Doom Metal masters RUN AFTER TO. With the strange name came some strange songs as well. These old dusty recordings are literally impossible to find except for a low quality upload on YouTube. Fans of old 80’s Doom Metal like Paul Chain Violet Theatre, Black Hole, Death SS will absolutely love this package. We have all of their songs re-mastered and put together on 1 CD along with some amazing band photos and a complete biography on the band. If you were not well versed on Italian Doom Metal, then fans of Black Sabbath, Saint Vitus, Candlemass, and Trouble would be interested in getting this gem. This is one of those bands that had too short of a career. They only put out an EP in 1988 and a demo tape in 1985.  There's some confusion about the history of the song "Occultism".  That was originally a Run After To song.  Paul Chain heard the song, loved it and re-recorded it and made his own version of it.  So technically Paul Chain Violet Theatre has a Run After To cover.

Run After To (EP, 1988)
1. Who Cries for the Children
2. Melancholy
3. My Name is Man

Gjinn And Djinn (Demo, 1985)
4. Occultism
5. Walking on the Rainbow
6. Visions
7. Melancholy
8. Run After To
9. Exorcism

COVEN: New album "Destiny of the Gods" coming up in November through Shadow Kingdom Records

Shadow Kingdom Records has announced a November 19th worldwide release date for "Destiny of the Gods", the new album from Detroit’s Doom Metal Juggernaut COVEN (also known as COVEN 13). Get a taste of the madness by streaming album cuts “Thor’s Twins” and “Walpurgisnacht” here.

Shadow Kingdom Records owner Tim McGrogan had this to say about the upcoming monolith:
“There have been quite a few old 80’s bands that have reformed and wrote a new album that turned out badly. With that said, we feel for those bands that have fallen flat on their faces because it’s very hard to pick up after such a long hiatus and create something that not only pays homage to what your roots are, but also brings something new and exciting to the table. That’s the trick to creating a new album after being out of the scene for a long time. Very few bands have come back from the grave to make something on par or even better than what they’ve done in the past. It might be hard for the fans to swallow this, but Coven is among the very few bands over the past couple years that have created another masterpiece that stands right up next to the classic Worship New Gods! At first we weren’t sure what they wrote because they have such unusual songwriting skills, but as this sunk in, its greatness unveiled itself. There’s really no other band in the world that sounds like Coven. They have so many strange influences that create so many obscure sounds that it couldn’t be copied even if another band tried.”

Track List
1. Thor's Twins
2. Winds of Revelation
3. Elfstone
4. Walpurgisnacht
5. Isle of Man
6. Frost Giants
7. Witches Kiss
8. She Rides the Dawn
9. Solitary Days
10. Spellbound

FUNERAL CIRCLE: Debut full length album will be released through Shadow Kingdom Records on November 19th

FUNERAL CIRCLE - s/t
Shadow Kingdom Records
Release: 19th November 2013

Shadow Kingdom Records will release the self-titled full-length debut from Canadian Epic Doomsters FUNERAL CIRCLE on November 19th.

Shadow Kingdom head honcho Tim McGrogran had this to say about the debut:

“Epic Doom Metal is not the most well-known Heavy Metal genre. It takes a lot of heart and guts to play this style of music since the dinosaurs that started this kind of music are some of the very best bands to ever exist. Epic Doom Metal in our opinion started in Sweden with CANDLEMASS. Their intention was to write the first Epic Doom Metal album. Other Doom Metal bands floating around back then weren’t thinking about writing a Doom record, they just wrote the music they liked and that sounded heavy. With that said, we’re proud to introduce FUNERAL CIRCLE! Hailing from the icy mountains of Canada, this young and hungry band is writing some of the very best Epic Doom Metal songs heard today. If you’re looking for Epic Doom Metal, there’s not much out there better than this self-titled beast of an album! They’re slowly clawing their way to the top of this genre. This record is loud, heavy, and raw with outstanding vocals. To top it off, if the fans voted on best album artwork, this would be the best of 2013.”

1. Scion of Infinity
2. Amaranthine (Wandering Dreamer)
3. Corpus of Dark Sorcery
4. Tempus Edax Rerum
5. The Charnel God
6. Black Colossus

THE MEZMERIST: Re-release of their two cult Psychedelic Heavy Metal releases featuring Bill Ward on drums

On September 3rd, Shadow Kingdom Records will release The Innocent, The Forsaken, The Guilty - a collection of rare recordings from enigmatic psychedelic metallers THE MEZMERIST. The Shadow Kingdom reissue will feature a CD compiled of the band's two EP, recorded in 1983 and 1985, and a DVD detailing the history of THE MEZMERIST.

The Mezmerist is one of the most mysterious US Metal acts of all time.  Few even know who The Mezmerist is, and to find an original LP is a chore as the band held on to most of the copies pressed. Originally issued in1985 and limited to 500 copies, today those copies have gone for extremely high prices on eBay.  The Shadow Kingdom records reissue marks the first time anyone who knew about this lost gem made contact with the band.  SKR was fortunate in finding the mastermind behind the band - Thomas Mezmercardo. After tracking Mezmercardo down, an additional five years was spent on this release to ensure it was done properly and with all of the parties and work involved.

Speaking of all parties involved, one of the most interesting things about this release is that Bill Ward did in fact play drums on the four tracks that make up the 1983 EP. The circumstances surrounding the events back then are somewhat of a mystery, even to this day. Mezmercardo sits down and tells the story of how all of this came together on the DVD portion of the release.

The Innocent,The Forsaken, The Guilty is not just any old over-hyped cult release that some of these other labels are feeding you.  This is the definition of the perfect lost gem in 80's heavy metal history and by far one of the best cult classic metal albums you'll ever hear. Psychedelic Heavy Metal is the most apt way describe this band that offers shades of Led Zeppelin, Cirith Ungol, and Mercyful Fate.

LOST BREED: "The Evil in You and Me" and "Save Yourself" albums of proto Doom rockers available for preorder

Back in the 80’s it was fairly common for bands to move to LA to try and make it big. Lost Breed is among the many bands that made that trip from NY to LA. They soon met up with the legendary Scott “Wino” Weinrich, whom at the time had already had 2 Saint Vitus records under his belt, was soon to be releasing a 3rd Saint Vitus record, and was also in the process of restarting The Obsessed back up again. Even with all of those irons in the fire, he started writing and jamming with Lost Breed. With his main roots and influence coming from the Maryland Doom Metal scene, it’s no surprise that Lost Breed fits right in there stylistically. With that said, Wino did lay a nice foundation for the band to build and grow from. Wino only appears on their first Demo and doesn’t appear on either album since at some point he probably realized he had too much going on and 2 bands to focus on were enough. With all of the music out there, it’s going to be a big surprise for people who haven’t heard this band yet. They have extremely unusual songwriting skills that not only make you scratch your head, but also bang your head at the same time. Once the music of Lost Breed settles in, it’s quite the listening experience and after a while you might think to yourself how does something that sounds so complex and disjointed work together so well? So, what does this sound like? We’re still trying to figure this out. In short, it just does, but if you’re looking for a reference point, then start with The Obsessed and some old Soundgarden and play both records at the same time. “The Evil in You and Me” is arguably the first “Doom Rock” album to ever exist. Some might call it “Stoner Rock” (we wouldn’t agree), but whatever it is, it’s pretty groundbreaking.

"The Evil in You and Me" Tracklist:
1. Rescind the Horde
2. King of Electric
3. Another Victim
4. Coffin Cheater
5. The Postman
6. Soul Chariot
7. Lost Breed
8. The Evil in You and Me
9. Nation's Song
10. Say You Love Satan
11. Storm Comes Down

“Save Yourself” picks right up where “The Evil in You and Me” ends. This album is a little more straightforward in the songwriting department, but it still has that quirky charm about it. It’s probably a little more doomy and with that a little more accessible than “The Evil in You and Me”. Both “Save Yourself” and “The Evil in You and Me” are essential and you definitely need both if you like this style of music. These guys might have had a short-lived career, but we probably got the cream of the crop out of them before they called it quits. They were a band that came out at the wrong time when the world wasn’t ready for them. It’s a shame because if they were more well known, they would probably influence a ton of bands. The one thing that’s great about Lost Breed is that this stuff never gets stale. You discover something new with each listen and after years of hearing them, the well of new sounds never runs dry.

“Save Yourself” Tracklist:
1. Circles
2. B.A.C. (What You Fear)
3. The Gears
4. Going Strong
5. 472 C.I. of Death
6. Lease on Life
7. Chop
8. Dragon of Chaos
9. You Don't Need to Live
10. Tonga Slut
11. Simulator
12. Up the Hill
