WINDHAND Signs To Relapse Records

Relapse Records this week officially welcomes Richmond, Virginia’s masters of ethereal doom metal, WINDHAND, to the label’s roster, having signed the quintet for the release of their forthcoming LP.

Stated the members of WINDHAND in response to their joining forces with the Relapse horde, "We're all so honored to be in the company of so many amazing artists. To know that our next record will be alongside some of the albums that inspired us to play music is pretty incredible.” WINDHAND has begun laying down tracks for the to-be-named upcoming LP in their home studio, The Darkroom, where the outfit will record and mix the entire album, and deliver it to Relapse for a Fall 2013 release date. More details will be made available as the album nears release.

Relaps Records: LOCRIAN complete recordings

Esoteric, experimental artisan’s LOCRIAN have completed recording their highly anticipated Relapse Records full-length debut. The as-of-yet-titled album was recorded by Greg Norman (Pelican, Russian, Circles, Serena Maneesh) at Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio Studios in Chicago, IL and mastered by Jason Ward at Chicago Mastering Service.   

A two-part concept album inspired by the band’s love for prog-rock progenitors Genesis, Yes & King Crimson, this is sure to be the group’s most ambitious recordings to date. A summer 2013 release via Relapse is expected with more details to be announced shortly.

In addition, LOCRIAN has announced their first live rituals in almost two years. The trio will be performing at 35 Denton Fest on March 10th in Denton, TX alongside Prurient, Sleep, Eyehategod and many more notable acts, followed by a pair of special shows in Kansas City, MO and their hometown of Chicago. 

LOCRIAN, located in Chicago, IL and Baltimore, MD, has released over 20 recordings on an eclectic array of labels in their relatively short but prolific career, including a recent reissue of The Clearing / The Final Epoch and New Dominions, a split with label-mates Horseback. LORD DYING full-length debut coming this summer

Relapse Records announce the signing of Portland, OR riff worshippers LORD DYING.  Formed in 2010, LORD DYING (E. Olson-guitar/vocals, D. Capuano-bass, J. Reid-drums/vocals & C. Evans-guitar) are veterans of the heavy music scene, having played in bands such as Black Elk, Portals, Le Force, and Cremains. The band has so far released a sold out 7” and a sold self-titled tour EP. The song "In a Frightful State of Gnawed Dismemberment" from both releases can be heard via their official bandcamp page HERE.  

LORD DYING recorded their forthcoming full-length debut this past September with Sanford Parker (NACHTMYSTIUM, YOB, RWAKE). The album is currently being mixed and mastered and will see its release via Relapse Records this Summer.  

LORD DYING has built up a reputation with their ear-shattering live shows, having recently trekked across the US with label-mates RED FANG and BLACK TUSK in addition to being direct support for BLACK COBRA, WITCH MOUNTAIN and GAZA. Now they will be hitting the road for a string of shows with DOWN and WARBEAST starting on Jan 22 in Seattle, WA.
