WOLVSERPENT: Kündigen Termine für Europatour im Herbst 2014 an | Announce European Tour Dates for fall 2014

WOLVSERPENT, die Doom-Schamanen aus Boise, kündigen eine dreiwöchige Headliner-Tour durch Europa an, auf welcher sie ihr zweites Vollzeitalbum "Perigaea Antahrakana" live präsentieren. Boise doom shamans WOLVSERPENT have announced a three week headlining European tour in support of their second full-length album Perigaea Antahkarana. The tour kicks off on September 25th in the Czech Republic and ends October 18th in Moscow, Russia. A complete listing of dates is included below.

EARTHLESS wurde 2001 gegründet und kreiert vor Energie strotzende, eigenständige Instrumentalmusik, die von einer erlesenen Mixtur aus deutschem Krautrock und japanischem Heavy Blues-Rock inspiriert ist. Award-winning power rock band EARTHLESS will be hitting Europe this summer, where they will be performing at two festivals, Milhoes De Festa in Portugal and Oya Festival in Norway.

WINDHAND: Announce North American Tour!!!

Richmond psychedoom practitioners WINDHAND have revealed a three week run of headlining North American fall tour dates. The shows kick off on August 24th in Richmond, VA and include support from psychedelic Nashville outift, All Them Witches plus Jex Thoth and Ilsa on select dates. The band has also been hand picked as openers for the legendary SLEEP’s sold out show in Philadelphia on August 26th. 2014 has already seen the band traverse North America and Europe with Relapse label-mates Inter Arma and Indian including appearances at SXSW, Maryland Deathfest, and Roadburn. ELECTRIC WIZARD: Präsentieren ersten Song, "I Am Nothing", vom neuen Album "Time To Die" | Premiere new song "I Am Nothing" from forthcoming album "Time To Die"

Electric Wizard, who recently revealed the title and artwork for their Spinefarm Records debut, premiere the first new music from Time to Die, with the song I Am Nothing streaming now via Noisey or Soundcloud.

Jus Oborn has said of the track, which harnesses the dark underground death metal spirit of 1984:

“It was the year I became a metal-head.  It was heavy shit for real – there was no way you were ever going to get a decent job.  So I became a Satanist, I dug up a grave, I got into tape trading, I had a one-man noise/black/death metal band called Regurgitated Guts, and there were loads of documentaries on TV warning us not to listen to the devil’s music…”

Produced by Oborn, the album was recorded at Toe Rag Studios in East London, with analog gear used exclusively throughout, with finishing touches done at Skyhammer Studio in “deepest, darkest” Cheshire by Chris Fielding.

Recorded at Gung Ho Studio in Eugene, notorious for its reserve of vintage equipment, alongside longtime collaborator/iconic sound-sage Billy Barnett, and mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, Beastmilk, Nails) at Audiosiege Engineering, Clearing The Path To Ascend is undoubtedly the crowning achievement for a band whose journey now nears two decades of creating music as commanding as it is cathartic.

  As is the Yob way, the tracks here don’t simply offer a vacuous glimpse into the already riff-soaked doom genre. These songs demand the tandem attention of mind, body, and soul – etching a mark across a sound that finds Yob as formidable and unequaled as they’ve ever been. The path to ascend is clearly an arduous one, fraught with the peril of mediocrity. EARTH: Tenth studio recording, "Primitive And Deadly", to be released via Southern Lord in September. On European Tour in August!

Earth’s career, like its music, has always been a slow, deliberate progression. Each record slightly removed from the last, a constant refinement of a singular vision. Dylan Carlson has remained focused throughout on coaxing moments of strange beauty and reflection from “the riff”. This elemental foundation of rock is refracted, in their earliest recordings, through the prism of sheer volume & feedbacking drone or, in the twin Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light set from 2011 & 2012, via a sparse unraveling take on folk.

 With Primitive and Deadly, Earth’s tenth studio collection, Carlson & long term foil, drummer Adrienne Davies, manage to pull off the trick of completing an Ouroborean creative cycle, 25 years in the making, whilst exploring new directions in Earth’s music. For the first time in their diverse second act, they allow themselves to be a ROCK band, freed of adornment and embellishment.   As much as Carlson’s guitar has always been the focal point of Earth’s music, it’s been surrounded by consistently diverse instrumentation. Here the dialog between Carlson and Davies drumming remains pivotal, underpinned by the sympathetic bass of Bill Herzog (Sunn 0))), Joel RL Phelps, Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter) and thickened by additional layers of guitar from Brett Netson (Built To Spill, Caustic Resin) & Jodie Cox (Narrows). Perhaps the largest left turn on Primitive and Deadly, though, is prominence of guest vocalists Mark Lanegan and Rabia Shaheen Qazi (Rose Windows) who transform the traditionally free ranging meditations of Earth into something approaching traditional pop structures.  

On "Rooks Across the Gates", a song stylistically the closest to the folk inspired modality of Angels of Darkness, Carlson stretches out into some of his most lyrical playing to date, creating an almost symbiotic relationship between his performance and the vocals of old friend Mark Lanegan. "From the Zodiacal Light", meanwhile, takes the late 60’s San Franciscan / freaked out jazz-rock transcendence of The Bees Made Honey in the Lions Skull and quickly re-appropriates that sound into a musky torch song for the witching hour.

 This contradictive tension between a band pushing themselves ever forward whilst surveying their history is reflected in the albums twin recording locales. The foundation of the record was laid in the mystic desert high lands of Joshua Tree, California where Earth recorded hour after hour of meditations on each tracks central theme at Rancho de la Luna. Upon returning to Seattle these were edited, arranged and expanded upon at Avast with the help of long-term collaborator Randall Dunn (who was previously at the helm for the Hex, The Bees Made Honey in the Lions Skull and Hibernaculum sessions).

Thick, dense and overdriven, melodically rich & enveloping, Primitive and Deadly is Earth reaffirming their position as a singular point in the history of rock.

RED FANG: Scion AV Presents US Spring Tour!

Scion Audio Visual presents RED FANG's Spring tour, "Situation: AWESOME!," the Portland band's first Stateside outing in 2014. The one-month trek kicks off May 16 at Slim's in San Francisco and includes a stop at Scion AV's Rock Fest in Pomona on May 17. RED FANG will also be joined by Big Business and American Sharks.

As part of the Scion AV-sponsored tour, RED FANG will release a new single titled "The Meadows" in early May, with a limited edition 7-inch available along the tour. A video for the song will arrive during the Situation: AWESOME! tour.

Across two full-length albums a concept emerges, and on their latest album, entitled, "The Feather Tipped the Serpent’s Scale", the themes pick up right where the band’s acclaimed debut LP, "The Unkindness of Crows", left off. In this installment, the crows documented in the first album have battled the sun and were burned back down to earth as black snakes, the concept of the album focusing mainly on the snake and its various mythic and symbolic incarnations. Ultimately, the great ancestral snake is transformed from its lowly beginnings back into a bird soaring upon the thermals. Demonstrating the cyclical nature of being.

"The Feather Tipped The Serpent's Scale" was recorded with Randall Dunn at London Bridge Studio (as with the first album), the record boasts some of the most mesmerising and monstrous riff transformations from Eagle Twin to date.

Having seen them live many moons ago, I can attest to their monumental sonic force and power, demonstrating perfect symbiosis between guitar and drums. I really cannot wait for more people to see them!

HORISONT & SCORPION CHILD: Gaben kräftig Gas in Leipzig! | Really put their foot down in Leipzig!

Gestern Abend spalteten sich die Leipziger wahrscheinlich in zwei Lager - in die sonntäglichen Tatort-Schauer und die Heavy Rock-Fans, welche sich für das Alternativprogramm im kleinen Saal des Hellraiser entschieden hatten. Definitiv eine gute Entscheidung, weil nach dem kurzweiligen australischen Support, JACKSON FIREBIRD, die 70s-Riff-Keule dermaßen durchgezogen wurde, dass es keinem Anwesenden auch nur ansatzweise gelang, den Nacken vollkommen still zu halten. Eher das Gegenteil war der Fall, weil das Gaspedal von den Rise Above-Zöglingen HORISONT, die ihr neues Album "Time Warriors" im Gepäck hatten, und SCORPION CHILD (Nuclear Blast) von der ersten Sekunde an derartig bis unter die Motorhaube durchgetreten wurde, dass der brennenden Luft nur mittels gediegener Haarventilation Einhalt geboten werden konnte. Dazu die passende Optik der absolut professionell aufspielenden Musiker inklusive Oberlippenbart, Koteletten und Schlaghosen und perfekt war der Retro-Streifen. Es sollte noch erwähnt werden, dass der Sound absolute Oberklasse war. Wer beide bisher nur auf einem Festival oder überhaupt noch nicht genießen durfte, dem sei ans Herz gelegt, einen Club-Gig dieser großartigen Gruppen zu besuchen. Die Chance gibt es auf der gerade erst begonnenen Europatour noch ausreichend. Hier die ausstehenden Dates, also nicht lange überlegen, hingehen und ABROCKEN!

This week, Old Man Gloom will be flying over for their first ever European tour. Their only UK show is at Scala in London on Thurs April 3rd, so make sure you get down to catch an Ultra-Group™ (the term super-group not being quite adequate to describe their terrible supremacy) in action.

The ethnically diverse and divinely gifted, Old Man Gloom are made up of: Nate Newton (Converge, Doomriders), Aaron Turner (ISIS, Mamiffer, etc), Caleb Scofield (Cave In, Zozobra, etc), and Santos Montaño (Zozobra, etc). Their most recent full length NO was released on Hydra Head Records in 2012, Old Man Gloom is currently at work on a new album, their first for the Canadian monolith Profound Lore. AMENRA collaborate with Willy Vanderperre for humbling video | UK shows, European tour dates and new releases announced

What happens when AMENRA, extreme music's most guarded and secretive unit, relinquish control? Top fashion photographer Willy Vanderperre and director of photography Nicolas Karakatsanisare are behind the reins of a video which features the band stripped of all that we know of them, and you can watch it first at Nowness...

Amenra: A Mon Âme 

Vanderperre has worked with a startling array of individuals, from Kate Moss to Kanye West, but his encounter with AMENRA sees both parties break formation to form a hesitant, powerful and revealing union. The video, set to À Mon Âme from their most recent album, MASS V, may not be what you have come to expect from the cult crafters of discordance - but what are AMENRA if not masters of defying expectation?

Says CHVE of the collaboration; "It is not at all like the sort of visuals we usually present, it is more a case study, or a visual interpretation of the band, a little piece of concept art, if you will. The idea they [Willy Vanderperre and director of photography Nicolas Karakatsanisare] had was stripping us of everything we had – ‘what if we took it all away from them?’, ‘what if we took them from their comfort zone?’. No shadows or darkness to hide in, dark imagery, props or metaphors or symbols to use."...

He continues..."Compare it to what we sometimes or mostly do with our music - stick to the mere necessary, take a minimalistic approach of a whole. What do we really need? To create a certain 'feeling' of emotion. For us, it was an extremely interesting cooperation. We normally keep our guard extremely high, never give something out of our hands, to keep it as close to our skin as humanly possible - that's exactly what they did as well, literally...It was awkward, uneasy, and very confronting for us to see, yet one of the most interesting things we did lately, and an honour for us to be working with such talented and inspiring people. ‘Under a watchtower of punishing light.’”

AMENRA are also gearing up for two split releases on Consouling Sound, due for release in summer of this year. Each of the split albums will present an incarnation of AMENRA, together with a sometimes surprising, but always compelling counterpart band - for the split 10" album with Eleanora, AMENRA is offering À mon Âme (live) and for the split 10" album with Treha Sektori, AMENRA decided to re-interpret À mon Âme and create an atmospheric ambient piece called Trahn.

The Eleanora track introduces an eager young Belgian sludge/doom outfit with a truly captivating sound that'll surely keep the audience yearning for their debut EP to be released later on in 2014.  Treha Sektori's French master soundscaper Dehn Sora surely is no stranger to fan of dark ambient music and drones.

In other AMENRA release news, My Proud Mountain are gearing up to release LIVE II, their second live cd, and first live 2xLP - the recording is the live audio from their MASS V release show of last year, mixed and mastered by Billy Anderson.
